Le Samyn des Dames: Chiara Consonni takes second place

By March 1, 2022News

The first campaign in the North of Valcar – Travel & Service, today protagonist at Le Samyn des Dames, ends with the second place of Chiara Consonni. The 22-year-old from Brembate Sopra crossed the finish line behind Emma Norsgaard at the end of a race where the athletes directed by Davide Arzeni made a great job.
After 15 sectors of cobblestones in 85 km, twenty girls fought for the victory. In the leading group, not only Chiara Consonni, but also Ilaria Sanguineti, Silvia Persico and Eleonora Gasparrini, whose effords were pivotal to peg Shirin Van Anrooij and Vittoria Guazzini back to the group 300 meters from the finish line.

When the breakaway was pulled back, Emma Norsgaard produced a powerful sprint to win Le Samyn des Dames, beating Chiara Consonni for a couple of meters.
“I am super happy – said Chiara Consonni to Eurosport -. My shape was already good at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, but I couldn’t reach the result, so today I wanted to be protagonist for me and the team. The sprint was difficult: Emma did a sharp acceleration 300 meters from the finish; I thought I could overtake her, but she was too strong. However this is my first podium in the season, so I am really satisfied”.
