Tomorrow in San Colombano Certenoli the season of the FAS Airport Services, the women’s team of cyclocross born in 2021 which this year too will face a prestigious calendar to better prepare its athletes at major international competitions. “Facing a good calendar is the basis for any self-respecting cycling activity – says Valentino Villa, president of Valcar – Travel & Service – the experience of many years of cycling tells us that quality of female athletes rises to the extent that they are given the opportunity to run at high levels.” A philosophy that proved successful in 2022 and that brought FAS Airport Services to the top of the world with Silvia Persico, bronze at the cyclo-cross World Championships. “It is always more difficult to repeat oneself than to succeed – explains Valentino Villa – but let’s not hide the fact that, in thanks to the excellent 2021 / 2022 season, our goal is to achieve the best possible results. And this means that we will try to win the Italian cyclo-cross championship again and be seen in the major international events of the World Cup and any World Championships.
This year the FAS Airport Services roster will be made up of two athletes, Silvia Persico and Eva Lechner; the role of technical manager will instead be covered by Davide Arzeni who will make use of the support from mechanics Luc Rombauts and Geert Rombauts. “Silvia and Eva are special not only for their skill on the competition fields, but above all for the high altitude professionalism that they demonstrate outside the competitive context – continues Valentino – they are, to say the least, a example, and I have to thank them because this year too they believed in the seriousness of our project technician”. A technical project that intertwines with the economic one and gives results on both fronts. “What we try to do is always create a virtuous circuit – comments Valentino Villa – the sponsors invest in our athletes, because they know that with them the brand is in excellent hands. The athletes guarantee visibility, but above all seriousness, and this last characteristic is much more important than the numbers. And then, to them time, these girls are exceptional to carry the name of our sponsors around the world, because they are authentic champions.
